Jim

James (Jim) Chamberlin, began attending Fellowship in 2010, and was ordained as an elder in late 2017, and also serves on the Fellowship Mission Board, and the SNL Leadership Team.

Reared in a Christian family in a small town named Grand Rapids in Northwest Ohio, he accepted Jesus as his Savior at age five in 1948, and was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1959.  He received a scholarship to Bowling Green State University, where he earned his B.S. degree in Education in 1965, and his Masters degree at Wright State in 1972.  Jim also studied Aramaic, under the tutelage of Dr. George M. Lamsa (Bible translator in the 1950’s and 60’s) in New York City, and attended Hebrew classes at Hama Divinity Seminary at Wittenberg.  He was ordained as a minister in 1966, and served as an assistant pastor for almost two years in northwest Ohio, as well as serving for many years as an adult Sunday school teacher.

Now retired, he has served as lifelong educator for 36 years in many capacities in three Ohio school districts (Celina City Schools, Northeastern Local, and Springfield City Schools).  He was a high school English and journalism teacher, school newspaper advisor, tennis coach, chairman of the English Department, basic skills specialist, gifted and talented instructor, OWE coordinator, and an assistant principal.  He also taught GED classes to inmates six-hours each week at the Clark County Jail for 22 years.

As an adjunct faculty member, he also taught Developmental Writing and Freshman English classes for sixteen years at Clark State Community College.  Further, he has taught off-campus Apple computer classes for Wright State, Ashland College, Ohio State, and the University of Dayton.

He is married to Cathy Chamberlin, and they have ten grandchildren in Pensacola, Dallas, Maryland, and Columbus, Ohio.  A big baseball fan, he and Cathy have attended baseball games in every major league baseball stadium in the United States.  His other passions are Bible study, reading, woodworking, swimming, hunting, and travel. By age 23, he had traveled to every state in the United States except Hawaii and Alaska.  He has since visited those two twice.  He also has been on sixteen cruises, and traveled in eighteen countries, but his passion is the Word of God.
