This past week in our conversation on intimacy we talked about how Adam and Eve dealt with the shame they experienced from their sin. But this isn’t the way that Christ wants us to live, nor do we have to! We were meant to experience freedom in Christ and that freedom is found in intimacy with him. The first step to that freedom is through confession and repentance. If Adam and Eve confessed their sin and repented from it, rather than trying to hide, I would be really interested to know how that might have changed their story!
Galatians 5:1 says, “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.”
Confession is an act of intimacy. And although it can be scary, it can not only increase intimacy in a relationship but we can experience freedom in Christ because of it! After confession we have the opportunity to walk in repentance, turning away from the sin we walked in previously and turning toward Jesus. This week take a step of faith, sit down with a friend or someone you trust and confess whatever is bringing you shame. God’s grace is always enough!
