After a lengthy career in higher-education, Ray now serves as the Director of Discipleship and Connections His responsibilities include training disciplers, developing a one-on-one culture for discipleship relationships, providing opportunities for people to become connected with others and serve, and teaching a variety of courses for NewU. Ray also serves as Vice President of Operations & Marketing for First Steps Discipleship Ministry and brings a wealth of ministry experience to his current role. Over the years, Ray has served a number of functions for several churches, starting as a Pastor of Missions in Los Angeles, California. He has invested time in numerous countries and contexts developing and training pastors in the areas of leadership development, ministry development, global missions, and discipleship. Ray holds an MA in Intercultural Studies from Biola University, an MA in International Affairs from Regent University, and is completing a PhD in Intercultural Studies at Biola University. He and Dawn have been married since 1987 and they have an adult daughter, Olivia.
